The New patriotic Party has suspended all campaign activities in the Savanna Region following the death of Parliamentary candidate for Yapei Kusawgu, Mr Abu Kamara and two others in a car crash yesterday.
The decision to allow for sometime to mourn the fallen candidate and his friends according the party is out of respect and sympathy with families and all those touched by the sad incident.
“These directives are in line with the party’s respect and condolence to the families of our deceased heroes,” Mohammed Issah, regional Communications Director of the Party said in a statement.
Mr. Abu Kamara died along with two others – his aide Kotochi Joshua and another victim identified only as Awal Adam when the vehicle they were traveling in crashed near a police check point at Datoyili, a community sandwiched by his constituency and Tamale, the Northern Regional Capital.
He is the second Parliamentary nominee of the ruling party to have died after incumbent MP and parliamentary Candidate for Mfantseman, Ekow Hayford was murded by suspected armed robbers a little over a week ago.
The New Patriotic Party’s Political arch – nemesis, the National Democratic Congress have also sent out their condolence as they indicated intention to also halt campaign activities.
