A health – centered NGO, the Ultimate Medical Outreach has made a donation of medical supplies to the Tamale Central Prisons and the Nyohini Children’s Home to cater for the health needs of inmates.
The intervention, meant to stock the first aid boxes of the two institutions included different forms of medication such as anti – biotics, anti-inflammatory, haematinics, dewormers, Anti – ulcer, Anti – Malaria, Anti – hypertensive and anti – depressants.
UMO was formed to provide free health services of all forms to rural and underserved communities and the founder, Mrs. Mariam Abubakari in a speech at the Prisons said her outfit’s latest gesture was to help enhance the health of inmates.
She revealed that Ultimate Medical Outreach which is made up of a team of health professionals will soon embark on a project to provide free medical healthcare to inmates in prisons across the region.
At the Nyohini Children’s home where the organization made a donation of medicines, bales of second hand clothing and food items, Mrs Abubakari, whilst expressing satisfaction that UMO was able fulfill its core mandate of supporting to improve the general wellbeing of the people also noted that supporting to uplift the less privilege was a collective responsibility.
Authorities of the two beneficiary institutions expressed their gratitude to the Ultimate Medical Outfit for their gesture as they called on benevolent individuals and groups to follow suit.
Supt. Divine Ocloo, second in Command of the Tamale Central Prisons said the donation of the medical supplies was a timely intervention which he said will go a long way to improve the quality of health delivered to inmates.
Mrs. Mawulorm Afelete, Administrator of the Nyohini Children’s Home described the intervention as God – sent as she appealed to org organizations such as UMO to never relent in their efforts at supporting the upkeep of inmates at the orphanage.
