Dr. Ziblim Barri Iddi, MP for Gusheigu and Deputy Tourism Minister

Deputy Tourism Minister and Incumbent MP for Gusheigu constituency in the Northern Region has withdrawn from NPP’s parliamentary primaries which is scheduled for June 20, 2020.

In a letter to the Party’s General Secretary, Dr Ziblim Barri Iddi described his decision as painful but said it was taken after broader consultation and deep introspection.

Party faithful are shocked at the MP’s decision considering he was the only candidate among three contenders cleared for the contest until a recent a National Executive Committee’s overturned the decision by the party’s parliamentary vetting panel.

Dr. Iddi has not given clear reason for his decision but party insiders say the MP is livid at the NEC’s decision to revoke his UNOPPOSE STATUS, hence his withdrawal.
