Seven persons in the Sissala East Municipality of the Upper West Region have tested positive for Coronavirus, the area’s Municipal Chief Executive has revealed.
According to Hon. Karim Nanyua, all the confirmed cases are asymptomatic and were detected through routine surveillance and enhanced testing and contact tracing.
Hon. Nanyua said the confirmed carriers are youth made up of two males and five females and are natives of the area but travelled in recently from Accra, Kumasi and Tamale.
The MCE who made the disclosure this morning at a Public Health Emergency Preparedness Committee meeting revealed further that out of the seven cases, four have been quarantined whilst three are yet to be traced.
He has accordingly urged residents to remain calm, supportive to the victims and to continue practicing all the safety protocols and presidential directives.
He has also demanded from residents to report all strangers and natives who are travelling in from various locations to the Municipal health authorities for proper screening.
