MCE for West Gonja, Hon. Muazu Jibril Jegede has in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the West Gonja Municipal Health Directorate in support of the fight against COVID-19.
The items included 29 waste bins, 2200 nose masks, 10 mobile megaphones and 10 thermometer guns as well as unsown materials which are expected to be used to produce additional nose masks.
Whilst Presenting the items, Hon. Jegede disclosed that the West Gonja Assembly aside the donation were also going to place 500 litter polytanks with water and soaps at vantage points within the municipality to aid the regular hand washing with soaps under running water.
This, the MCE said were all part of efforts by local authorities to prevent a possible outbreak of the global pandemic in the West Gonja area.
The MCE reserved special praise for the Municipal Health Director, Hajia Sulemana Fusheina, saying her relentless hard work and robust measures put in place has ensured the district records no COVID-19 case till date.
Hajia Fusheina who received the items was grateful to the MCE for the intervention and urged for more from other stakeholders.
She added the items will augment existing PPEs procured previously by her outfit to support health facilities in the municipality to fight the deadly corona disease.
Hajia Fusheina further entreated the general public to adhere to presidential directives on wearing of nose masks, ban on all forms of public gathering and all measures aimed at preventing the spread of the corona virus disease.
